With flocking, short textile fibres are applied electro-statically or mechanically to a previously applied adhesive layer so that a dense fibre surface results.

The adhesive can be applied as a motif with flat screen or rotary printing or over the whole surface by applying with a knife/doctor blade system.

The effects which can be achieved with the flock technique range from velvety soft, colour-fast velour surface for upholstery and ladies’ fashion materials through to coloured brand advertising with flock texts on sports clothing or functional brush effects on highly durable doormats.

Depending on the substrate and the desired effect the adhesive can be selected to fit various criteria, e.g. soft handle, elasticity, highest fastness requirements, wash resistance, temperature resistance and also the technical specifications for applying the adhesive and fixation.
